Performance
Date: September 20, 1980
Location: A loft in downtown Prague,
Underground Festival of Prague and Bratislava Performance Artists
Material: Four “found” wire fence lattices 100 x 100 cm, pieces of glass, a wine-glass, pieces of chalk and coal, paper, fire.
The performer draws a large circle with a chalk on the floor near a burning candle. In the center of the circle there is a square constructed with iron lattices with a square sheet of glass put as a rhombus laid in the center of lattices. Black and white paper semicircles are put on top of the glass. Both semicircles are dusted with the floor dirt, then the black semicircle is whitened with a chalk, and the white one is blackened with a coal. The semicircles are rolled into a paper ball, and the ball is set on fire. The ashes are put into the wine-glass in the center of the glass sheet.
